History:

Rocket Lab was founded in 2006 by Peter Beck an engineer from News Zealand, he loved machines more in his childhood period and he developed powerful engines, he decided to make his dream space company and in 2006 he started "Rocket Lab" in Auckland, News Zealand as a startup company. NASA and Rocket Lab

In 2009, U.S government awarded the "Rocket Lab" for developing a low cost launcher to place a CubeSats in orbit which paved the way to use NASA resources. In 2013 the company moved its registration from News Zealand to U.S. and in 2020 they moved its headquarters to California,U.S.

Electron:

Electron (rocket)

Electron is a two-stage orbital launch vehicle (rocket) developed by  Rocket Lab to service the commercial small satellite launch and uses Rutherford engines, One of the most powerful rocket by Rocket Lab. Electron makes use of advanced carbon composite materials for a strong and lightweight structure.

In 2016, Electron completed flight qualification. The first rocket was launched on 25 May 2017, reaching space but not achieving orbit due to a glitch in communication equipment on the ground. On its second flight on 21 January 2018, Electron reached orbit and deployed three CubeSats.

Electron is designed to launch a 150 to 225 kg payload to a 500 km Sun-synchronous orbit, suitable for CubeSats and other small payloads. The Electron has flown 12 times May 2017. There have been 11 successes and 1 failure

Photon:

Photon model
Photon is a satellite bus (i.e) it carries multiple no.of satellites per launch. The rocket Lab says,"Photon is the complete spacecraft solution for a range of missions".it has a payload capacity of 170 kg.Rocket Lab planned to use Photon to launch small payloads into lunar orbit as soon as fourth quarter 2020.

Mission to the Moon:

In 2021 Rocket Lab will launch a CubeSat into lunar orbit for NASA. This historic pathfinding mission supports NASA’s Artemis program which will land the first woman and next man on the Moon by 2024.

By collaborating with NASA, Rocket Lab will make its historical events in up coming years, they are planning to launch cubesat satellites for NASA and other organisations

 Launching sites:

It has two launching sites in different countries 1)Launch Complex 1 in Mahia, New Zealand 2)Launch Complex 2 on Wallops Island, USA.

Launch Complex 2 will be open in 2021. This helps more start-ups in space industry.
